Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Composites

£48,000 – £55,000 DOE


The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for an experienced Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Composites for a leading group of companies based in Coventry.

The primary objective of the role is to act as the voice of Manufacturing and Tooling design, translating the requirements of the design authority to produce tooling and composite parts / assemblies for world class vehicles.

  • Company Policies: Follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company
  • Be the interface between Advanced Engineering and Composites Manufacture to define the strategy as to how Composite tooling, parts and assemblies are made
  • Where necessary influence the design of parts and assemblies to ensure Manufacturing Feasibility, Quality and Repeatability
  • Support Manufacturing to create process documentation and training material for production operatives
  • Lead the Tooling Design Engineer and interface with the Machine Shop Manager to create bespoke high-quality tooling
  • Assist with the formulation of robust production plans and future strategies to ensure the efficient output of the Composites business
  • Lead R&D activities across multiple departments to ensure new production processes and methods are introduced in a sustainable way
  • Support Metrology department to ensure tooling and products are manufactured to the highest quality
  • Assist with issue management, reporting and resolution
  • Mentor and where required provide toolbox talks and training to production operatives

Essential Skills

  • Engineering /Manufacturing degree or equivalent within a relevant subject
  • Experience of working within a Composite environment with relevant experience as a Manufacturing/Production Engineer within a fast paced, forward-thinking business
  • Understanding of Engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong background covering Manufacturing Engineering principles
  • Be a strong advocate for Quality in the company and outside, with suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Proven ability to liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers, and other service providers
  • Time management and ability to prioritise workload accordingly across multiple projects
  • Be an effective team member, working with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output
  • Experienced in generating standard work instructions, man assignments and process flows
  • Able to identify risks, use problem-solving techniques, develop, and safely implement new processes within a production and manufacturing environment
  • Experience with BOM’s and Change Management processes
  • An understanding of industry and regulatory requirements such Quality System Regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI’s)
  • Use of Microsoft packages – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to support others
  • Positive attitude towards mastering challenges and changes
  • Must have IDLR/ Full right to work in UK- Sponsorship will not be provided.
